G.R.F. Biological Glue | |

Principe of action:
The G.R.F.® surgical glue consists of an aqueous mixture of gelatine and resorcine. The polymerization occurs by the addition of a hardener made of formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde. The hardener has to be injected in the thickness of the mixture and should not be in direct contact with living tissues. The adhesivity of the gelatine is enhanced by the combination with resorcine. The compound is insoluble in water.
Properties of the G.R.F.® BIOLOGICAL GLUE:
Effective and quick gluing of tissues during the operative procedure.
Reinforcement and tightness of dissected tissues and sutures.
Absorbtion with time.
Absence of immunological reaction due to the chemical structure of the glue.
To be used carefully, due to the toxic composition of the hardener.
The GRF glue is a two-part glue: the adhesive part is a mixture of gelatin and resorcinol which is polymerizing under the action of the hardening agent, an aqueous mixture of formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde. The polymerization is progresive and the glue is an elastic substance with high adhesive characteristics.
The two components are in double barrier sterile package. Each kit contains 12g tube of adhesive, a 3cc glass vial of hardener, a 1 cc syringe with two 18G needles, and a spatula, and a spatula. The adhesive is a gamma radiation sterized, at a minimum dose of 25kGy.each complet kit is sterilized by ethylene oxide in its final packaging.

Indication:
Aortic dissection repair: gluing of dissected cylinders. Due to the potential toxicity of the hardener, the use of GRF glue is restricted to this indication; the instruction for use must be carefuly and strictly followed. Indeed, the hardener should not be in direct contact with living tissues as it potential toxicity migt lead to tissue necrosis.
